Can your morning plans determine how successful you are at work? I read Business Insider’s recent article about the morning schedules of 15 successful small business owners.

Exercise, yoga, meditation, walking the dog, spending time with children and eating an energy-fueled breakfast were all common themes with almost all those interviewed.

These entrepreneurs have successfully introduced flexibility into their schedules – even if it meant rising at 5 a.m. in order to have the most productive day possible.

Since starting my new job at a social media marketing agency a couple of months ago, I’ve realized the importance of flexibility in the workplace. We work from home two days a week and this schedule benefits the team in countless ways.

For example, on a recent work from home day, instead of spending the hour before work catching the bus to the office, I enjoyed a power walk in the sunshine and grabbed a coffee-to-go. This meant I started my working day with a smile of my face and more motivated than ever to tackle my work ‘to do’ list.

I’m someone that appreciates team interaction but also need my own thoughts and quiet time, especially when I’m writing or trying to be creative. Because we are given the flexibility of telecommuting, I honestly feel I’ve become more productive when working. Now, the idea of 9 til 5 in the office everyday feels outdated.

I’m happy to see TDS is celebrating the benefits of telecommuting with its new Facebook contest. I’m planning to submit a photo of my walk in the sunshine and I urge all homeworkers to enter the contest too (and P.S. the best photo wins $50!).

They succeed because they’re the ones who has been focusing on their ends. As you can see, they also have the time to do it because they are all successful and that they have the time to do so. Other people tend to focus on something more worth than this because they don’t have anymore time to do it.
