Do you struggle with procrastination? Do you feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff you need to do? Do you even know where to begin? There are a few things you can do to be more productive and avoid procrastination.

  1. Prioritize
The first thing you need to do is determine what activities or tasks create the most opportunity for you and your business. For example, in sales, it may be prospecting. Tasks like following up with contacts, training calls with your team, posting on Facebook or designing your website etc. might come next. It may help to make a check list the night before of your most important activities.
  2.

  3. Organize
Determine what time of day is best to handle your most important activities. Going back to our sales example, you most likely are not going to make sales calls early in the morning or late at night. I would suggest tackling tasks like responding to emails, setting up marketing campaigns, managing your team, or taking on some of those organizational problems that pop up from time to time.
  4.

  5. Delegate
Do you have any tasks that can easily be done by someone else? Maybe it’s something simple like mowing the lawn. Could you pay a local kid from the neighborhood to do that low priority task so you can focus on income producing activities? In my opinion time is more valuable than money. So determine what income you want to achieve and if a task does not help you achieve that goal then assign it to someone else or save it for later when you can’t do the most productive things on your list.
  6.

  7. Set a goal
My last tip is set a goal for your most important task. In our sales example your top priority would be prospecting also know as making sales calls. In this case you should do something like setting a goal of a minimum of 20 calls for a predetermined time period. Once you’ve achieved that goal you can move on to the next item on your list.

If you follow these simple steps you’ll be able to do more with your time. Successful people only have 24 hours in a day as well. They just make different decisions and have different habits. Use these tips to increase your productivity and overcome procrastination!
